Because of advances in computer technologies that allow more complex and realistic training scenarios to be simulated, the use of adaptive simulation-based training is becoming increasingly widespread. Simulation-based training provides a cost effective means for evaluating and dramatically improving the skills, knowledge, and experience of individual decision makers in a wide range of application environments.


 

KBSI has participated in a number of research initiatives focused on delivering adaptive training and simulation training models and technologies for a number of defense entities and commercial industries. We’ve developed adaptive training for Air Force, Navy and joint missions support technology, and developed training for advanced combat scenarios, combined force interactions and coordinated team/crew training pilots. Our Intelligent Scenario Management Framework (ISMF) was developed for NAVAIR aviator training and uses data mining technologies and concepts to also provide automated training scenario generation and real-time trainee performance assessment and skill classification. We used our ProSim® technology, an IDEF3 modeling and simulation model generation tool, to develop ISMF’s training scenarios and to integrate, store, manage, process and share the training scenarios.

The Battlespace Superiority Through Better Decision Making (SuperCision™) initiative for the Air Force Research Laboratory designed methods and tools for assessing and improving individual decision-making effectiveness. The SuperCision™ system includes the capability to capture experienced decision makers’ know-how and provides web portal access to personal decision making improvement resources.
